BCS Standings Safe For Now As Nebraska Pulls It Out Over Iowa State

The Missouri Tigers were close to getting a gift in the Big 12 North on Saturday as the Nebraska Corn Huskers nearly lost to Iowa State. We wrote before the game that teams like Texas make any Iowa State Big 12 game an upset alert. That was nearly the case as the Huskers pulled it out, 31-30, in overtime over Iowa State.

This one hurts for Mizzou fans because the Tigers need help getting into the Big 12 title game after losing to the Huskers last week.

The BCS standings are safe for now for Nebraska fans. A Nebraska loss would have moved Mizzou up one more spot (theoretically). For now, the other top 10 games include TCU and Utah and LSU's victory over Alabama.

A Huskers loss would have knocked them out of the top 10. They're sitting at No. 7 right now.

So Missouri barely misses out on a nice gift. I'm not sure where Nebraska will lose going forward against Kansas, Texas A&M and Colorado.
