NCAA Basketball Rankings: Kansas Moves Up To No. 3; Kansas State, Missouri Fall

The Kansas Jayhawks moved up one spot in the latest USA Today / Coaches poll. The NCAA basketball rankings say KU is the third best basketball team in the country as the poll places them third behind No. 1 Duke and No. 2 Ohio State. Kansas State drops one to No. 6 while the Missouri Tigers also drop one to No. 12.

Kansas was ranked No. 4 last week but got off to an impressive start last week by beating the Memphis Tigers, 81-68. They followed that up with a 21-point victory over Colorado State on Saturday night. The thing with the Jayhawks is that they may not even be close to their potential yet. On Saturday, Josh Selby will make his debut and at that point we can start to figure out what kind of team these guys will be. Right now, they look like they could be right there with Duke as tops in the country. Kansas is 9-0 on the season.

Meanwhile the Kansas State Wildcats dropped from No. 5 to No. 6 in the USA Today poll. KSU last week defeated Alcorn State by 34 points and later Loyola (IL), 68-60. Kansas State is 9-1 on the season.

The Missouri Tigers also dropped this week landing at No. 12 after being No. 11 last week. They were jumped by Villanova who was No. 12 last week and No. 11 this week. Missouri went 2-0 on the week defeating Vanderbilt and Presbyterian. Mizzou is 8-1 on the season.
