The Missouri Tigers family has been mourning the death of Marion Denmon, the cousin of basketball player Marcus Denmon, last week. Marion was shot and killed and his funeral was being held on Tuesday in Kansas City and attended by Marcus and members of the Mizzou coaching staff.
According to the KC Star, shots were fired at the funeral as people were walking out of the church.
Police estimated that 400 people were at the Macedonia Baptist Church for the funeral of Marion Denmon III, a cousin to University of Missouri basketball player Marcus Denmon, who attended the service with members of the Mizzou coaching staff.
Marion Denmon, 20, was shot about 2:15 a.m. Dec. 3. He reportedly was in the crossfire as occupants of two vehicles shot at each other near Elmwood Avenue and Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard. Denmon died four days later. Police have not made any arrests.
Witnesses saw the car go around the block twice before opening up fire. Police said people at the church fired back at the cars shooting. No one was believe to be shot.
