The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face the St. Louis Rams on in Week 15 and, though we've yet to hear an official word from the Chiefs, we're expecting Matt Cassel to be playing. He is recovering from an appendectomy after he missed last week's game against the San Diego Chargers. He's been practicing (limited) this week so he's had some work. I think it would be an upset at this point if Cassel didn't play.
So what can we expect out of him in fantasy football? That's a tough prediction but I'll give it a shot.
I think the Chiefs will be focusing heavily on the run game today so don't expect huge numbers out of him but, as he has all season, Cassel is a threat to throw for multiple touchdowns even if he doesn't top 200 yards passing. The Rams defense isn't horrible and they're not great so we're thinking KC can take advantage in some spots.
My prediction for Cassel would be 15-of-25 for 210 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Cassel's been protective of the football all year so I don't see him turning it over. We're thinking Dwayne Bowe might get back on track and snag one of those touchdown passes.
The Rams are among the worst teams on defense in the red zone so, once the Chiefs get down there, they can put it in. Look for Cassel to capitalize on that in the passing game.
