College Basketball Rankings: Kansas Stays At No. 3; Mizzou Jumps Kansas State

The big news in the Kansas City area and college basketball this week is Kansas State's loss to Florida over the weekend. Kansas State now drops from sixth to 11th in the USA Today Coaches' poll. The Kansas Jayhawks remain at No. 3 and Mizzou moves up a couple of spots to No. 10.

Kansas played just one game last week but beat the USC Trojans at Allen Fieldhouse. This wasn't any normal game -- it was Josh Selby's debut. The freshman scored 21 points including a 3-pointer with 26 seconds remaining to give KU the lead (which they held onto). It'll be interesting moving forward to see how Selby affects KU's chemistry. Kansas moves to 10-0 on the season. They play California this week.

Missouri jumps ahead of Kansas State for the first time this season as they move from No. 12 to No. 10. Mizzou beat Oral Roberts and Central Arkansas this week as they move to 10-1 on the season with the only loss coming to No. 9 Georgetown. The Tigers play No. 21 Illinois this week.

Kansas State is the big loser this week as they lost to the Florida Gators in the Orange Blow Classic. Kansas State, which had already notched one loss to the Duke Blue Devils, drops to No. 11 from No. 6. There's nothing else to say other than that was a very disappointing loss for Frank Martin's team. Kansas State is now 9-2 on the season and plays UNLV and UMKC this week.

Outside of Kansas State's loss, it was another good week of college basketball in the Kansas City area
