Thomas Robinson Powers Kansas Jayhawks Past UT-Arlington

New, 2 comments

The Kansas Jayhawks stayed unbeaten on Wednesday night as they brought down UT-Arlington, 82-57. This was actually a somewhat close game even early into the second half but the Jayhawks pulled away for the 25-point victory. And they did it thanks to Thomas Robinson.

Bill Self sat Marcus Morris for about the first nine minutes of the game and Robinson stepped it up scoring 20 points in 24 minutes, completing 8-of-10 field goals and 10 rebounds. Josh Selby proved he was human hitting on just 1-of-9 shots for two points. He had 21 and 18 points in his first two college basketball games. Marcus Morris added 13 points in 20 minutes and Markieff Morris added 14 points in 19 minutes.

Following the game, Self had good words for Robinson.

"Thomas is without question our best post guy right now," KU coach Bill Self said. "He deserves to be out there, even though it’s probably not best for our team over time."
That's a nod to Marcus and Markieff Morris. Marcus didn't start because he was ejected from a game for a flagrant foul against Cal last week. Markieff hadn't started the two previous games because Self said he wasn't happy with his effort.

The lesson to take out of this -- Kansas is far from perfect right now, as Self suggests, but they continue to win. How far can this team go?
