Royals Will Tweak Batting Practice Schedule To Make Room For Bud Selig's Announcement

The Royals will have an announcement from MLB Commissioner Bud Selig at 5:00 p.m. this evening. The Royals technically aren't confirming anything except for a "major announcement" but Selig is in town to award the 2012 All-Star Game to Kansas City.

That means an estimated $65 million for the city.

It also means the Royals will have to tweak their schedule to accommodate the announcement.

Turns out the announcement, which is scheduled to take place at 5 p.m., also will alter the Royals’ typical pregame routine. Royals manager Ned Yost said that instead of taking batting practice at 5 p.m. like normal, the Royals will have a shortened session from 5:30 to 6 and the Astros will follow with a 30-minute session of their own.

The gates are usually open at 5:30 p.m. but they'll open an hour earlier for the announcement.
