Bill Simmons Mocks KC All Star Game

Bill Simmons, ESPN's Sports Guy, used his twitter to mock Major League Baseball's decision to grant Kansas City the 2012 All Star Game.

Yeah!!!! Four days in Kansas City in mid-July when it's 110 degrees!!!!! Who's in??? http://tinyurl.com/2bpp6jsless than a minute ago via web

Coincidentally, Simmons's hometown of Boston was one of the finalists being considered by Commissioner Bud Selig for the game, according to the Associated Press.

There was competition, especially from Boston, where Fenway Park will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2012.

"In the '90s, you had to beg somebody to take the game. Now I've got a list of teams, and every time I award one there are some people, and I know who they are, who are mad," Selig said. "That's all right. They'll get over it. I don't spend a lot of time worrying about those things anymore."

He said he agreed that the Red Sox, who hosted the 1999 game, had "very interesting reasons."

Boston's loss will be Kansas City's gain. Selig said he expects the weekend to generate $70 million for the local economy.
