Royals Place P Luke Hochevar On 15-Day Disabled List, Make Other Roster Moves

The Royals are making a few roster moves today.

According to Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star, the Royals on Wednesday placed Luke Hochevar on the 15-day DL with a sprained elbow.

Hochevar had an impressive 10-strikeout performance the first week of June before giving up four runs in just 68 pitches last week against the Reds. He was pulled early for a pinch-hitter.

No specifics yet on the injury.

This means Hochevar will not make his scheduled start Thursday night. Replacing him Anthony Lerew, a right-handed pitcher from Omaha.

If you don't know much about Lerew then I know this will shock you: He came to the Royals from....the Braves! Originally an 11th round pick by Atlanta in 2001, he was released in March of 2009 and signed with the Royals.

Lerew made his Royals debut as a September call-up last year.

The Royals also released pitcher John Parrish.
