Ned Yost, Luke Hochevar Address Landing On The 15-Day Disabled List

Luke Hochevar on Wednesday was placed on the 15-day disabled list because of an elbow sprain suffered in his last start. After allowing four runs on six hits earlier this week, Royals manager Ned Yost sent in a pinch hitter for Hochevar and ended his night.

Apparently that was done because of the elbow sprain, Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports.

Royals manager Ned Yost said he could tell something was wrong with Hochevar because he was struggling with his command and his velocity was down (from 95-96 to 93-92). He was eventually pulled after allowing four runs and six hits in four innings.

Hochevar said he didn't feel pain, but some discomfort.

It's a grade 1 sprain, which is the lowest you can have.

His DL stint is retroactive to June 12 so they'll save a few days there. Yost said he expects him to miss two starts.
