Royals GM Dayton Moore On Mike Montgomery Injury: 'He'll Be Fine'

We passed along a note earlier this week that the Royals No. 1 minor league prospect had landed on the disabled list with elbow soreness. It was deemed, at the time, as a minor issue.

Per Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star, GM Dayton Moore reiterated this week that it was indeed minor.

“It’s just precautionary,” general manager Dayton Moore said. “The MRI (magnetic resonance imaging test) is clean. It looks good. There is nothing abnormal at all.

“When a young pitcher has some pain for the first time, he’s apprehensive. But what we see is similar to what all other young pitchers go through. We’ve just got to get him through this hump. He’ll be fine.”

Anytime a high profile prospect is injured, it'll be news. But it sounds like Montgomery will come out of it just fine.
