Chiefs GM Scott Pioli has been on the job in Kansas City for over a year. After a four-win season, he's been criticized by quite a few folks (there's good stuff, too) and, frankly, rightfully so. Anytime you win four games, someone is to blame and that someone should usually be the one ultimately responsible for how the team is run.
↵So how does Pioli handle a little criticism? He tells Albert Breer of the Boston Globe that he's got football to focus on and used a Martin Luther King Jr. quote to make his point:
↵↵↵“Seldom do I pause to answer criticism of my work and ideas. If I sought to answer all the criticisms that cross my desk, my secretaries would have little time for anything other than such correspondence in the course of the day, and I would have no time for constructive work.’’
↵
Pioli's contention for not answering criticism via more media interviews has long been that it gets in the way of his focus of improving the football team.
↵Not a bad answer.
