Kansas Jayhawks Pitcher Brett Bochy Skipping Senior Season, Signs With His Dad's Giants

The Jayhawks will be without one pitcher in 2010. According to a release from Kansas's official site. Brett Bochy has signed a contract with the San Francisco Giants, who are managed by his father Bruce.

Bochy - the son of Giants' manager Bruce Bochy - was selected by his father's organization in the 20th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft with the 618th overall pick.

"I'm thrilled for Brett," Kansas head coach Ritch Price said. "For him to have the opportunity of being able to play professional baseball for the same organization his father is with has to be a dream come true for him."

Bochy was signed to a deal despite going through Tommy John surgery in April.
