Alex Gordon Tearing It Up In AAA But No Plans By The Royals To Call Him Up

Alex Gordon started the season on the disabled list and after just 12 games was sent down to the minors.

In 42 games since then, he's hitting .356 with 10 homeruns and 30 RBIs. That batting average is good for first on the team.

However, the Royals aren't expected to call him up anytime soon. As Samuel Zuba of MLB.com speculates, Gordon's next opportunity may have to wait for a trade or an injury. Rick Ankiel's scheduled to be returning soon.

"I don't want to bring Alex up here right now if he's not going to play," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "And we've got enough outfielders with [Rick] Ankiel coming up, and that's going to create another player to put in the mix. To me, he's better off down there playing."

It's possible he may not come back up until September.
