So here we are in Kansas City recognizing that the fans won't vote any of the Royals into the All-Star game. It appears as if the A.L. coach will pick someone but, once again, there are no Royals being voted in by the fans.
↵Then there's Stephen Strasburg who just made his fifth start for the Washington Nationals. He's supposed to be the next big thing in MLB.
↵And the ballot-box-stuffing fans may get Strasburg into the All-Star game.
↵So what does the Royals manager think about that?
↵↵↵“I’ve got conflicting opinions,” Yost said. “The All-Star Game is for the fans – do the fans want to see Strasburg? Yes. So in that respect, I say yes (he should go). Does he have all-star stuff? Yes.
↵“But are his numbers worthy of being an all-star? No. He hasn’t had enough time to develop those numbers.”
↵
He puts it more tactfully than I could but he's right. To put someone in the All-Star game with five, six or seven starts is ludicrous.
