The Royals drafted Mike Antonio in the third round making him the highest New York City high school player in 14 years, according to the NY Post.
His father tells the NY Post that the deal he signed last week is for "slot money" meaning it's the average between the guys picked before and after him.
“We’re happy with the contract,” Miguel Peguero, his father, said. “The most important thing is he’s down there to play ball and get a lot of playing time. I just wish him well and hope he makes the major leagues.”
The best part is that the Royals paid for his education, since he committed to St. John's University. Not a bad deal.
