It was seven years ago today – July 1, 2003 – that Mike MacDougal sets a club rookie record for saves by getting his 21st in a 6-3 victory over Cleveland at Kauffman Stadium. Doug Bird had 20 as a rookie in 1973. MacDougal finished with 27.
