Jose Guillen nearly made his way into the lineup on Friday but manager Ned Yost decided to hold him out once again.
Guillen came up limping running to first base last Tuesday. His injury has been called a strained muscle in his left quadriceps/hip flexor.
“When he went to hit (in the indoor cages),” Yost said, “he didn’t feel anything. When he ran, he felt better, but he still feels a little weak. So we’ll see (tonight) and reevaluate. He’s making great progress.”
No word yet if the Royals will let him sit the weekend before the break or let him get in on the the last two games against the White Sox.
