We'll file this one in the completely random department. Royals' Willie Bloomquist and Jason Kendall have become friends on the team and were recently watching bobsledding together during a series in Seattle. This caused both of them to think that when their careers are over, they could entertain the idea of....bobsledding.
↵↵↵Which is why they are talking about narrow, twisting iced tracks in the future.
↵“He told me he wanted to win a gold metal,” Kendall said. “I said, ‘I’m your man, let’s do it.’ It’s something we’re serious about.”
↵Bloomquist said bobsledding was an easy choice. After all, baseball no longer is an Olympic event.
↵
In actual news, Bloomquist said he plans on playing five more season despite a pair of knee surgeries over the offseason. Kendall, a 15-year veteran, will likely be done with his career before Bloomquist.
↵And...no, neither player has ever gone bobsledding before.
