Royals' Jose Guillen Could Consider Skipping 2011 All-Star Game, Too

New, 1 comment

We told you about some comments from Royals closer Joakim Soria indicating that he would considering "siding with the Latin community" and boycotting the 2011 All-Star Game in Phoenix because of Arizona's new immigration laws which have been drawing scrutiny.

Looking back at some comments from Jose Guillen a couple months ago, it's reasonable to assume he would give strong consideration to skipping the game along with other fellow Latin players.

“I’ve never seen anything like that in the United States, and Arizona is part of the United States,” Kansas City Royals designated hitter Jose Guillen said. “I hope police aren’t going to stop every dark-skinned person. It’s kind of like, wow, what’s going on."

Guillen hasn't weighed in on the issue since then but given Soria's recent comments, along with a handful of others, it seems reasonable to think Guillen would consider skipping the game as others have suggested.
