The Malakoff Independent School District in Malakoff, TX has a tiger for their logo. If you're from the Kansas City or Columbia area, then that tiger probably looks familiar.↵
Because Malakoff's logo closely resembled that of the Missouri Tigers, officials decided on a new logo to avoid any potential legal issues with the Missouri Tigers.↵
Here's what the Malakoff News had to say:↵
The move comes after the University of Missouri - or more specifically, the university's branding company - warned the school district that its Tiger logo too closely resembled that of the Mizzou Tiger.↵
Trustees first heard of the problem at their May meeting from MISD Superintendent Dr. John Spies. Spies told the trustees at that time he believed the district could win against the university in court, but that it wasn't worth the cost in attorney fees.
