Royals' Spin On Jose Guillen Quotes Begins

New, 5 comments

Royals GM Dayton Moore has responded to Jose Guillen quotes that recently appeared in a Jeffrey Flanagan column on FOX Sports Kansas City.

↵

For a refresher, Guillen said the Royals were:

↵
    ↵
  • "Fundamentally, this is one of the worst teams in all of baseball."
  • ↵
  • "Why do we get 14 or 15 hits and we score one or two runs. How does that happen? Lack of concentration. Lack of being smart."
  • ↵
  • "Respect for the game has been lost. That pisses me off. When you get older, you like to be around guys with winning attitudes and winning atmospheres."
  • ↵
↵

Ned Yost already said: "He is a guy who is fundamentally sound and wants to see that in others. So, I get that."

And Dayton Moore's take on it, per the Kansas City Star:

"I read it, and I took it as a positive," Moore said. "I know José’s spoken this way in the past, but I know for a fact that he’s over that because we’ve talked about it. I do know from the conversations we’ve had that he’s happy about being here."

There's no way you can read those comments and honestly look at them as a positive. I understand Moore needs to spin it that way but that's clearly not the case.
