TCU Hired Mizzou Baseball Coach Largely Due To Recruiting Power

Mizzou baseball coach Tony Vitello left the university to accept a position on TCU's staff, who ranked third in the final 2010 poll.

According to the TCU head coach, Vitello's recruiting prowess played a big role in the process.

“We searched nationwide for the right fit for our program, and Tony clearly emerged as one of the nation’s most aggressive, hard-working and knowledgeable recruiters,” Schlossnagle said in a statement. “He comes widely recommended and has been a major part of Missouri’s outstanding baseball program over the last several years.”

That makes sense considering recruiting is just as important as coaching in NCAA sports. This is a big loss for Mizzou.
