Former Royals Manager Trey Hillman Resurfaces

New, 1 comment

We haven't heard much from Trey Hillman since he was dismissed as the Royals manager on May 13 and replaced by Ned Yost.

So what's he been up to?

Ala George Costanza and the Summer of George, it appears he's taking it easy. The Joplin Globe caught up with him as he sat in the stands -- not the dugout -- of his son's baseball game.

“I’m just a parent, and enjoying it,” he said. “It’s something I haven’t had much opportunity to do. ... My record, before this summer, was a total of seven innings in one summer. I just haven’t had a chance to see him play.”

And, no, he's not replacing anyone on his 17-year old son's team's coaching staff.

“I’ve been asked some questions (by team coaches) and I am happy to give my opinion. But I’ve been second-guessed my whole career, so that’s the last thing I’m doing to do.”
