David DeJesus Undergoing Surgery Monday Morning

Royals OF David DeJesus injured his thumb on Thursday night against the Yankees. We found out in less than 24 hours that the injury was serious enough to sideline him for the season.

The thumb injury will require surgery and that will happen on Monday morning, according to Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star.

Outfielder David DeJesus is scheduled to undergo surgery this morning in Cleveland to repair a complete tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb.

Tom Graham, a physician who is a hand specialist, will perform the procedure at the Cleveland Clinic. Typical recovery is 10 weeks, which would encompass the rest of the season.

Now the focus turns to getting DeJesus healthy. There's always the offseason for trade talks.
