Hey Now, These Royals Are On A Roll, Beat Mariners In 10

Before the Royals played on Sunday Night Baseball, I had a buddy say, "Well, they're only 7.5 games back in the Central." I said, "Whoa now, it will be a long summer if you're trying to win the division now."

Well, don't look now but those Royals are on a hot streak.

The good fortune continued on Monday night as the Royals beat the Mariners in 10 innings, courtesy of a Yuniesky Betancourt RBI in the top of the 10th.

The comeback really started in the eighth inning for the Royals.

Jason Kendall and David DeJesus hit back to back singles and Billy Butler sac flied Kendall home making it a 4-3 game. Then Mr. Fundamental Jose Guillen stepped in, hit a single putting runners at the corners for Alberto Callaspo to drive one in at the next at-bat.

Farnsworth came on in the 9th to help send it to ten.

The Royals got Callaspo on in the 10th but he was thrown out trying to steal because of some mix-up. Mitch Maier came up next, drove the ball for a double and Yuniesky Betancourt drove him in before Betancourt himself scoring on a blooper from Scott Podsednik.

All-Star Joakim Soria came in on the 10th to notch his 23rd save.

And just like that, the Royals are hot.
