Dan Quisenberry In The News Again And Not Because His Memorial Was Mowed Down

Last week, Missouri DOT officials accidentally mowed down a tree planted in former Royals pitcher Dan Quisenberry's honor off the highway near Kauffman Stadium.

This week, the late Quisenberry popped up in the news once again but not because of MODOT's mistake.

It was 31 years ago Tuesday – July 6, 1979 – that the Royals purchased the contract of relief pitcher Dan Quisenberry from Class AAA Omaha. He made his major-league debut two days later by pitching 2 2/3 scoreless innings in 4-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox at then-Royals Stadium.
