Chiefs' Branden Albert Took Jeffrey Fitzgerald 'Under His Wing'

Chiefs undrafted free agent Jeffrey Fitzgerald is popular around Kansas City because he's coming from Kansas State. However, before KSU, he was at Virginia with current Chiefs left tackle Branden Albert.

Fitzgerald recently talked with Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com about his relationship with Albert.

As soon as I got the call at the end of the draft, Branden was one of the first guys that I called. I told him that I was coming out here and he was happy for me. We had a really good relationship at Virginia. We always hung out together with the same group of guys and I kept in contact with him when I came out to play at Kansas State. He just took me under his wing and introduced me to guys. He’s like my big brother out here.

It's important that these rookies have someone like that to lean on. I know they're professionals but most of the undrafted free agents are also 22 or 23 years old and moving into a new situation. So, like any human being, it's good to have some familiarity.
