If The Royals Made The Playoffs, They Could Be Making History

Last week, Royals manager Ned Yost had some comments about the playoffs. Basically, he said he definitely feels the Royals are still in the division and they can still win it by the end of September.

Is it possible? Sure...but not likely.

↵

Yost had no other choice but to answer the question that was asked to him. He couldn't say, "Nah, we're out of it" because that would be selling his team short and good managers don't do that. They give their players a reason to believe.

But if the Royals did make the playoffs, they could be making history.

↵

No team has ever made the playoffs after hitting the All-Star break seven games under .500 and eight games out of first place.

Ever.

The Royals could still sweep the White Sox this weekend and enter the All-Star break a few games closer to .500 and first place but making the playoffs is a long, long shot at this point.
