Cowtown Rundown: Kansas City Sports News 8/12

Here's your daily dose of Kansas City sports news...

No practice for the Chiefs until Sunday

The Kansas City Chiefs are off over the next three days.

  • Thursday: Travel day to Atalnta
  • Friday: First preseason game against Atlanta
  • Saturday: Recovery day

And then on Sunday they return for practice.

Tony Gonzalez back in the news

TG said "It's going to be weird" playing the Chiefs. I couldn't agree more.

I think SB Nation Atlanta sums up our relationship with TG the best:

Tony Gonzalez has previously made it clear he intends to retire and enter the Hall of Fame as a Chief, and he’s just here to win a ring. Chiefs fans and Falcons fans alike have no problem with this arrangement.

Pretty much.

Royals lose in 10 innings

Sigh.

Zack Greinke pitches a gem of a game and then, well, let Royals Review take it:

Greinke and Weaver both pitch a gem of a game and then the teams were forced to use their bullpens. In the 10th, the Angels bring in Fuentes to handle the heart of our lineup. What does Yost do? He brings in Chavez. Two batters later, the game is over with a walk off home run.

Yes that describes what happened. It was....almost fitting, or normal at this point.

Top Mizzou WR breaks wrist, out at least a month

Well, this isn't good:

Bad, bad news for the Missouri offense: The team's leading returning pass-catcher, slot receiver Jerrell Jackson, has a broken scaphoid bone in his left wrist and will miss approximately four weeks of action, team spokesman Chad Moller confirmed.

He won't require surgery. It came on the end of a long run during 11-on-11 drills.
