Here's an interesting stat from the Kansas City Star:
↵↵↵Former Royals closer Jeff Montgomery entered a game against the White Sox in the eighth inning 17 years ago Friday — Aug. 13, 1993 — with a 4-2 lead. He had converted 24 consecutive saves before blowing that one.
↵
Joakim Soria currently has, you guessed it, 24 consecutive saves, which is tied with Montgomery for the team lead.
↵If the Royals can get Soria out there in the ninth Friday night, he could break the record 17 years to the day after Montgomery set it.
