Grizzlies Already Getting Trade Offers For Unsigned G Xavier Henry

New, 1 comment

It's been quite a week for the Henry family. First it was C.J. Henry who declared he would not be returning to Kansas for the 2010 basketball season.

Now his brother, Xavier, now a member of the Memphis Grizzlies, who is in the news.

Henry, as you know, hasn't signed his contract yet. The NBA system has a slotting system where there's only 20% to play with. The Grizzlies want to tie his extra 20% in the slotting system tied to performance bonuses (of course they don't mention that Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo are playing the majority of the minutes and he may not hit that performance bonus).

Nevertheless, the Grizzlies are now getting trade offers for their unsigned draft pick, but they say that's not happening.

"I'm not looking to trade him just to trade him," Heisley said. "I'm not angry with him. I expect him to play. He's going to have an opportunity to play a lot, and we need him. So my reaction to this is I'm expecting we'll get something done and he'll play for us this season."

Tough week for the Henry family.
