OK, so this doesn't exactly qualify as a trade "rumor". This is more of a "columnist brings up hypothetical trade" and we react to it.
↵Troy Renck of the Denver Post says the Rockies need a right-handed first baseman, which brings us to this:
↵↵↵That leaves two guys to focus on: Kansas City's Billy Butler and Cincinnati prospect Yonder Alonso, if they must go left-handed, even though it wouldn't be a great fit if Helton returns as a bench player. Butler has intriguing power and would give the Rockies more balance as a right- handed hitter behind Troy Tulowitzki.
↵Kansas City could use a young catcher, so why not center a deal on Chris Iannetta or Mike McKenry and Chris Nelson?
↵
The Royals love Butler so I don't see them involved in any trade involving him. They don't need to trade so they would (rightfully so) require a boatload in return.
↵And like most trade "rumors", we won't hear of this again.
