Baseball America is considering it as the strongest, according to the Springfield News Leader.

"We definitely have the Royals on the short list for No. 1 organization. We were considering 11 players for minor league player of the year, and four of them are Royals," co-editor John Manuel wrote in an e-mail. "I've been critical of the Royals organization in recent years and wondered what the plan was," Manuel added. "But this year, their plan has definitely become evident. The organization has as strong of a core of prospects at the upper levels as any organization in the game."

That's ridiculous and worthy to be repeated: Of the 11 players they're considering for minor league player of the year, four are Royals.

In AA, there are three big-time pitchers who have a future in the big leagues: John Lamb, Danny Duffy and Mike Montgomery.

Maybe 2012 really will be the year.
