Blaine Gabbert, Mizzou Players React To Derrick Washington's Suspension

Mizzou announced on Thursday afternoon that RB Derrick Washington has been suspended indefinitely. Several hours later a report surfaced that Washington was facing sexual assault allegations.

Mizzou head coach Gary Pinkel declined comment and AD Mike Alden said he supported Pinkel's decision.

"We just have to fight through it," quarterback Blaine Gabbert said. "Things are going to happen to this football team but we are going to fight back."

The man replacing him will be backup RB Kendial Lawrence.

"It was a shock to me," Lawrence said of the suspension. "I'm ready to pick up the slack and help this team out any way that I can."

He'll have to pick up the slack. This is a serious allegation and if they've already suspended him, then reading the tea leaves it seems unlikely he'd play week one against Illinois, but that's just speculation at this point.
