Mizzou isn't a running team by any means but the Tigers do still utilize their running backs. With Derrick Washington now suspended indefinitely, Mizzou will look to RB Kendial Lawrence.
He recently said he's more confident this season and understands the playbook better.
“I feel a lot more confident now,” Lawrence said. “I know the schemes and the playbook a lot more than I did last year. I’m just hungry for it. I thought (last year) went pretty good. I always want to do better.”
Here's the thing though: Entering camp, Lawrence was the No. 3 running back. He hopped over De'Vion Moore, who had been injured the last week.
So it's possible the running back Gary Pinkel picked third to start the offseason may end up being the starter.
