Derrick Washington situation gets worse

On Thursday, Mizzou announced that RB Derrick Washington had been suspended indefinitely for disciplinary problems. According to court documents obtained by the Columbia Missourian, Washington was accused of sexual assault and the matter has been referred back to the prosecutors.

A woman brought forward a case claiming Washington had entered her room "unprovoked" on June 19 and sexually assaulted her. The July 7 court date was continued and neither party attended the July 21 court date.

Either way it looks like this could take some time.

Jayhawks could feature a pair of freshman running backs

In the last two weeks, the Jayhawks have lost RB Rell Lewis for the season and saw Toben Opurum switch from running back to linebacker.

To help with running back depth, the Jayhawks will play a couple of freshman.

"Those two guys are in the mix with Quigley and (red-shirt freshman Deshaun) Sands," KU coach Turner Gill said earlier this week. "They (were) in the mix whether Rell Lewis was there or not. We still have another week where I want to continue to evaluate guys, but all four of those guys have some potential."
