Zack Greinke Gives Up Six Runs In Royals 7-1 Loss To Mariners

The Mariners are the lowest scoring team in baseball. They're also last in batting average and on-base percentage.

The Royals best pitcher is Zack Greinke, who is having a forgettable season but by his standards.

Of course then Greinke gave up six runs in seven innings to the Mariners on their way to a 7-1 loss Friday night.

"I thought I pitched OK today," Greinke said, according to the Kansas City Star. "When I pitch badly, I let you guys know. But I felt like I threw all right. They just put a lot of hits together, and it’s not like they were lucky hits. Most of them were line drives."

What's amazing is that Greinke had gone 37 consecutive innings without giving up an earned run against the Mariners. Isn't that amazing?

So it doesn't make a ton of sense that he gave up six in seven innings on Friday night except to say that the Mariners were due.

"Hopefully, it was just one of those days."

Maybe it's one of those seasons.
