Former Mizzou RB Derrick Washington's family spoke with the Kansas City Star recently about the former Mizzou player's exit from the program.
“We were told that if he cleared his name in the court process, he would be welcomed back with opened arms."
Of course that won't happen. Washington permanently been suspended.
Washington's case is going to court on Sept. 23 so it's possible he could have stayed on the team but not played until there was new information available.
Mizzou's not saying much so we're not sure what to think of the Washington family's claims. But I'm wondering what changed between when they allegedly said this to Washington and when they permanently suspended him. It's somewhat odd they didn't give him his day in court for a serious accusation like this.
