Cowtown Rundown: Kansas City Sports News 9/11

Game day for Mizzou, Kansas

It's finally game day for everyone. College today and NFL on Monday. There are a ton of good college football games.

  • 11:00 a.m. Georgia Tech vs. Kansas
  • 6:00 p.m. McNeese State vs. Mizzou

My picks (are obvious): Georgia Tech by two-plus touchdowns and Mizzou by two-plus touchdowns.

Check out Rock M Nation for more Mizzou football and Rock Chalk Talk for Kansas football.

Chiefs practicing at night to prepare for MNF

The Kansas City Chiefs are holding a pair of night practices this week to prepare for the late, late 9:15 p.m. start time on Monday.

It's the opening weekend and the Ravens and Jets are also on MNF (three hours earlier) at the new Jets stadium.

This will be the latest game ever at Arrowhead Stadium. With more national TV and a longer halftime show, I could see this game stretching to 1:00 a.m. fairly easily.

Check out Arrowhead Pride for more Chiefs news.

White Sox score three in the eighth, beat Royals 4-3

The White Sox scored three in the 8th giving them a 4-3 victory over the Royals. The victory puts the White Sox within five games of the AL Central-leading Twins.

The Royals have now lost four in a row and seven of eight overall.

Ending the game in the ninth for the White Sox was Chris Sale. Remember that name? He was often connected to the Royals in the MLB draft this year.
