Charlie Weis Expected To Return To Chiefs After Gall Bladder Surgery

During his Monday press conference, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley was asked if there was some sort of health issue with Charlie Weis following the game.

Here's what he said:

"As is my policy I won't talk about anybody's ... things like that, health. That's a family business deal. That being said, there is nothing life-threatening, heart attack-related, any of the couple things that have been brought to my attention regarding Charlie so, as far as that goes, I will make that statement just to keep there from being a bunch of hoopla. But I won't get into his personal side of this with any of our associates, employees, coaches or players."

A couple hours later Shan Shariff of 610 Sports reported that it was gallbladder surgery. Kent Babb of the KC Star later confirmed the news via Weis' agent, Bob LaMonte.

Weis apparently was told on Friday that he would need the surgery but declined and decided to wait until after the Chiefs game.

He dealt with the pain, had the surgery Monday morning and is expected to be released Tuesday.
