Kansas City Royals first baseman. Billy Butler is sporting a "nasty bruise" after taking a ground ball in the hand Tuesday night against the Minnesota Twins.
X-rays were negative so there isn't any long-term damage but, according to Bob Dutton of the KC Star, Butler will miss a few games because of it.
He will be reevaluated again today but is likely to miss at least a few games.
Butler has battled a bruised right hand for roughly two months. While it has zapped his power — he has only 14 extra-base hits, and only two homers, since the All-Star break — he continues to lead the club with a .313 average.
The key for the Royals is just keeping him healthy. This season is lost so there's no reason to make this a long-term injury.
