2011 NFL Draft: Blaine Gabbert Going Pro, Missouri Tigers Announce

New, 1 comment

Following the Missouri Tigers loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 2010 Insight Bowl, QB Blaine Gabbert said Mizzou would be even better next year suggesting he may stay at Missouri.

That's not the case. Mizzou announced on Monday that Gabbert is entering his name into the 2011 NFL draft. He's gone.

Gabbert was one of several Tigers to enter their name to the NFL draft advisory board which gives them an idea of where they'll be selected. Head coach Gary Pinkel has suggested that if someone is going to be a first round pick it's probably a good idea that he leave.

We're not sure if this means that Gabbert has been told he'll be a first-round pick but his name is being thrown about as the second, third or fourth quarterback taken after Stanford's Andrew Luck

Gabbert has the experience (two years starting), the numbers and the size to compete in the NFL. He has a strong arm, is surprisingly mobile and comes off as a smart player. There are a lot of things to like about him.
