The Texas Longhorns lead the Big 12 standings at the moment with a 6-0 record and that includes a victory over the Texas A&M Aggies, Kansas Jayhawks and Missouri Tigers -- all in the last 10 days. Texas is well tested these last couple of weeks and they've shown they're a legitimate top 10 team in the country (ranked No. 7 now)
With that victory over Kansas in their pocket, Texas controls their Big 12 future. Texas plays Texas A&M on Monday night and that's the last ranked team they'll play. The way they're playing right now, they can run the table in the Big 12.
Kansas comes in second in the conference with a 5-1 record. That's one conference loss and just one loss on the season for the 20-1 Jayhawks. They're ranked sixth in the county, right ahead of Texas, and will move up a couple of spots this week. Kansas still has a pair of games against Mizzou and another against Texas A&M.
Missouri sits in fifth in the Big 12 right now with a 3-3 conference record. They're 17-4 on the season and have some quality victories but they're a step below Texas and Kansas right now. Missouri still has a trip to Kansas State and a pair of games against Kansas remaining.
Kansas State is 2-5 in the conference and 14-8 overall. We think they're good -- they just haven't shown that. I really don't know what to think of Kansas State right now. It's hard to believe this is the same team some predicted would win the conference.
