Midnight Madness 2011: Bill Self Begins Push For 8th Straight Big 12 Title

There's still plenty of talent in Lawrence despite the loss of the Morrii.

Kansas' annual "Late Night at the Phog" event to kick off the men's basketball season will be a part of ESPNU's nationally televised Midnight Madness spectacle on Friday.

Starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Allen Field House, the Jayhawks will introduce a young team in a half pep rally half practice designed to stir up enthusiasm for the season.

Despite losing forwards Marcus and Markieff Morris to the NBA and guards Brady Morningstar and Tyrel Reed to graduation, Self will be looking to reload, not rebuild, in his 9th year in Lawrence.

The team is led by junior Thomas Robinson, an athletic 6'9 240 forward selected to the preseason All Big-12 team and projected to be a first rounder in next year's NBA Draft. The big question mark coming into the season is the backcourt, where senior Tyshawn Taylor and junior Elijah Johnson will be asked to step into much more prominent roles.
