Fantasy Football Sleeper: Curtis Brinkley Becomes Waiver Wire Grab For San Diego Chargers

For those looking for a possible back to come in as an injury replacement and help on the bye or until Tolbert or Mathews gets back, you could do worse than to pick up Brinkley.

The San Diego Chargers already have two backs likely on rosters in your fantasy football league. Mike Tolbert was the expected injury and yet he remains a valuable long-term commodity for fantasy owners because of his ability to punch the ball into the end zone. As for Ryan Mathews, he's the featured back for the Chargers and he can be a dual threat to run and receive out of the backfield. Yet with the current injuries, it's clear that Curtis Brinkley has a chance to shine.

In last night's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Brinkley made a name for himself with a touchdown and a two-point conversion along with several key plays to bring the Chargers into it. He seemed to flash the type of profile that could become useful for Norv Turner going forward as long as the injuries persist to the personnel above him. He rushed 10 times for 43 and 1 touchdown and caught another 3 passes for 24 yards.
