The old and wise folks in our families have a tendency to say that "things happen in the series of three." For the Texas Longhorns, their tailback situation has now seen three of their ball carriers suffer from injury recently.
Longhorns tailbacks Malcolm Brown (turf toe) and Joe Bergeron (hamstring) have already been dealing with injuries and in their contest versus the Missouri Tigers, were only going to be considered for emergency duty if necessary. However, when Fozzy Whittaker went down with a serious leg injury in the first quarter, the situation changed.
Whittaker was unable to put weight on the leg after trainers helped him up to take him off the field.
The Longhorns scored on a 12-play, 78-yard drive early in the first quarter. The drive culminated into a 27-yard field goal by Justin Tucker.
So far, Missouri QB James Franklin is 6-6 passing for 49 yards.
