Henry Josey Out For Rest Of Missouri Tigers 2011 Season With Ruptured Tendon In His Left Knee

Mike DeArmond is confirming an earlier report with the worst news possible for the Missouri Tigers: Henry Josey is indeed out for the season. DeArmond just wrote via Twitter, “Orthodepic surgeon Dr. Pat Smith just told me Henry Josey is ‘Done. Done for the year.’ Ruptured tendon in left knee. Will still have an MRI.”

Josey was just announced as a semi-finalist for the Doak Walker Award, an annual prize given to the nation’s top running back in college football every February. Instead of being among the ones considered, Josey will be forced to rehab and hope he can return to form next season. At the point where his season ended, he was leading the Big 12 in rushing on the year with 1,168 yards on 145 carries.

Kendial Lawrence now takes over the starting tailback position for Mizzou and he performed well enough today against a stout Longhorns defense that they can still feel good about getting productivity from the spot with 106 yards on 18 carries and one touchdown.
