In a story that only reveals just how interesting, polarizing and overwhelming opinions and coverage concerning Tim Tebow is, there’s now a movement of fans creating their own custom NFL jerseys (via the NFL online store, for instance) using Tebow’s No. 15 jersey and replacing the name with “JESUS.” And if you thought opinions on anything to do with Tebow was divisive before, wait until this becomes even remotely mainstream.
Even Tebow himself didn’t know what to think about it. “I don’t know what to think about that because I don’t know where people’s hearts are,” Tebow told the Denver Post. “It’s important to not judge without knowing their hearts. If their heart is to honor the Lord, then it’s a good thing. Only God can judge because only God knows what’s truly in a person’s heart.”
“I haven’t seen any of these jerseys in our stores,” said Marty Garafalo of Game Day Merchandising, which operates the three Broncos stores. “But I guarantee you we will have people go in the store tomorrow and ask for them.”
Undoubtedly, some of those same people will make their way into Arrowhead Stadium at some point in the near future.
