Gary Pinkel will not be on the sidelines this weekend when Missouri faces Texas Tech in Columbia. The University of Missouri has decided to suspend Pinkel for one game as a result of his arrest Wednesday evening for a DWI:
He'll miss the Texas Tech Red Raiders game, but will be back for the game against the Kansas Jayhawks. And he'll receive a formal letter of reprimand for his permanent record. He'll also write a letter of apology.
In addition to the one game suspension, Pinkel's salary of nearly $300,000 for the game will be donated to the University of Missouri Wellness Resource Center. It has already been a rough season for the Tigers. Missouri came into the year ranked in the top 25 with aspirations of challenging for the Big 12 title, but they enter the Texas Tech game at 5-5 needing one more win to get to bowl eligibility.
The Tigers did defeat No. 16 Texas 17-5 this past weekend in Columbia.
